Mr. Cattell preached in the morning at 10 am form the text "For God so loved the world" &c and in the evening at 6 pm the text Jer. Ch 9 v. 23 and 24 "Thus, said the Lord, let not the wise man glory in his wisdom, either let the mighty man glory in his might, let not the rich man glory in his riches, but let him that glorieth glory in this that he understandeth and knoweth me, that I am the Lord." Son John Calvin and self walked round between 7 ½ and 8 ½ pm a mile or so. Evening after church at home except said walk and to bed 9 to 10.

Received of Samuel Moody and James McLaughlin new clients in reference to business of one Mrs. Mary Jane Moody, a half sister of their touching years of illicit intercourse between her and Thomas Duncan, counseling fee $5.00.
I was engaged during afternoon in Court as counsel for John Casey in the trial of cross actions for assault and battery between him and Thomas Faley. David Fleming Esq. for Faley.
I called after tea a few minutes at Baumgardner House to see said Mrs. Moody and her said brothers. Then walked 3 ½ miles circular between 6 3/4 and 8 pm. To bed 9 ½ to 10.
30-5 Clear, fine, pleasant. Was in and out of Court during day. Sheriff’s deeds to me for John Casey property (v. 22 inst.) offered for acknowledgment in Court this afternoon and by consent all round continued over until Tuesday next. As I have not had time to examine settle damage with certain judgement creditors
Bought of William F. Murray, judgement to wit William F. Murray and John Casey in Dauphin Common Pleas of April 7, 1858 No. 264, judgement for $335.00, interest from April 1, 1858
Paid him therefore as follows to wit.
By giving him my check for (on Dauphin Deposit Bank) $164.33
And my note at 60 days to his order payable at the Harrisburg Bank for $200.00
Said $164.33 includes $1.33 as calculated by him for the discount he would be subject to on my said note but in which as he told me in the evening he had made a mistake as it ought to have been $2.13. I did not count or calculate it at all knowing nothing about how the banks count interest and depending upon his experience, therefore that I owe him on said deposit 80 cents.
I had interview with Miss Mary Jane Moody and her brother Samuel at my office (v. 29 inst) from 10 am till noon. Prepared affidavit for her and went with them to Alderman Kline’s. She made appointment and she went to see Constable Fleck at Depot. Mr. Moody paid him $3 to go to Millersburg to execute the warrant. I did not leave them and get to my dinner till about 1 to 1 1/4 pm.
Walked after tea between 6 and 7 ½ pm, 3 ½ miles and called at D. A. S. Eyster’s on my return, remained a few minutes, walked with Mrs. E. as far as their Mission Chapel. She went in and I came on home. Spent rest of evening at home. To bed between 9 and 10 pm.

Bought of Hamilton Alricks Esq. attorney for self in each case the following two judgements to wit.
James Stewart and John Casey- 120 Jan. 7, 1859 in Dauphin Common Pleas, judgment for $348, interest from Jan. 22, 1859 to 22 Dec. 1859 when or about which time $150 paid by defendant viz. to $100 to H. Al. Atty. and $50 to P. H.
Amount due on this judgement when defendant’s land sold 22 August 1860 $225.82
Which $225.8 I this day paid to defendant’s attorney Hamilton Alricks by my check to his order in Dauphin Deposit Bank, and took assignment transfer of said judgement on the docket also said attorney $4 in attorney docket for &c in said case see below.
Wellington Yundt for Henry Yundt and John Casey- In Dauphin Common Pleas Nov. 1, 1859 No. 37 Judgement for $289.54 interest from Oct. 26, 1859 amounting up to time of sale of defendant’s real estate viz. Aug. 1859 to $303.94 for which $303.94 I gave Hamilton Alricks my note at 4 months payable to his order with interest and took assignment of said judgement on the docket.
I also paid Hamilton Alricks by my check to his order in Dauphin Deposit Bank attorney docket fees &c in both of said suits $8.12 (v. his loose receipt for said fees) (v. post Nov. 6)

Paid John Casey county treasurer on purchase in partnership at his late county sale of ___ lands for taxes with L. M. O. Henry share of taxes and interest on certain lots No. 21, 22, 23, and 14 and a certain other piece of ground in the name of Samuel Howard or George M. Riplinger in South Hanover Township and a certain lot in 8 ward of Harrisburg in the name of Upperman. There properties all said to be rented, whole amount, taxes &c $20.20, my half paid $10.10 (M. also paid his ½ at same time)
Walked 4 miles circular between 6 and 7 ½ pm, being joined on the way by Mr. Connor. Home 8 and to bed 9 ½.

Of Layfayette College, preached preparatory to the installation of Mr. Cattell tomorrow as our pastor. Rev. Mr. Reeves of Chambersburg also present and made prayer &c. Home 8 ½ to 8 3/4 and to bed 9 ½ to 10 ½ pm.
