Scope and Content

A printed booklet containing the legal proceedings in the settlement of the estate of Jacob Bishop, including an appeal by John Zinn and Charles A. Snyder from a decree of the Orphans' Court of Dauphin County; a petition to the Judge of the Court by both parties; the answer of the creditors, widow and heirs of Jacob Bishop by Hamilton Alricks, their attorney; the administration account of Michael Keller; the report of the auditors; the correction of the account of Michael Keller, Administrator of the estate; and the Argument for Appellants, 1844-1849.


Jacob Bishop died intestate in the year 1833 and letters of administration were granted to Michael Keller, who then became bound in an administration bond with John Zinn and Charles A. Snyder, as his sureties. Errors were made in the administration of the estate by Michael Keller who later became insolvent and left the state of Pennsylvania. Legal proceedings were begun by the heirs for a correction in the administration account.
