Scope and Content

The collection contains two items of appreciation to persons donating materials and money to the Union Volunteer Refreshment Saloon and Hospital, Philadelphia. The first item is a pictorial certificate issued to Martin Wm. Whalen by J. B. Wade, secretary, for his donation of supplies, 1862 and the second is a letter handwritten by Sam B. Fales to Mrs. Davids for her donation of twenty five dollars, 1864. It is on the letterhead of the organization with a sketch of the saloon and hospital.
