Scope and Content

The collection contains correspondence to Theo. K. Sheffer. The first letter is from E. W. Pearse to Major Sheffer giving him news of some of the members of his company and informing Major Sheffer that he also applied for a pension.

The second is a letter from G. G. Watrous to Capt. Theo. Sheffer concerning Ira V. Waterman, a private in Company A, 107th Regiment Pennsylvania Volunteers, asking Capt. Sheffer for an affidavit verifying that Private Waterman served in his unit and was due a pension for his service.

The third item is the affidavit by Capt. Theo. Sheffer, verifying that Ira V. Waterman served with Company A, 107th Regiment, Pennsylvania Volunteers and fell ill soon after the Battle of Antietam in September, 1862.
