Scope and Content

The collection contains a program for a Thanksgiving dinner given in El Paso, Texas, on November 30, 1916; a program for a banquet celebrating the consolidation of two Pennsylvania companies on November 23, 1917; and a memorial poster to the soldiers in Company D, 8th Regiment, Pennsylvania Infantry, for their service in the War of 1917. The poster lists the officers and other members of the company who responded to the call of the President for the war with Germany by reporting July 15, 1917. The company was mustered into Federal Service on August 5, 1917. The company was first organized as the First City Zouaves in May, 1857. Additional history of the company is provided on the side of the poster.
