Scope and Content

Collection consists of the membership application cards of the Harrisburg chapter of a Spanish American War veterans group known as the United Spanish War Veterans, 1898-1945. Cards contain name, address, age, occupation, date and place of birth, dates of service and rank.

Background

Paul Harm of Harrisburg enlisted as a private in Company I of the Fourth Regiment, N.G.P. which served in Puerto Rico. Upon his being mustered out he became a QM in the 28th U.S. Volunteers, all of whom served in the Philippines and were drawn from largely from HGP soldiers. His collection relates to the founding of Camp 8 United Spanish War Veterans from Company I, Regiment NGP.
