Scope and Content

Collection contains booklet for "Old Home Week" in Harrisburg, October, 1905 with two advertisement posters for the event; the booklet for the "Proceedings at the Dedication of the Market Street Entrance to the City of Harrisburg;" correspondence to L. C. Danner from Henry McCormick, Jr.; cards for the weekly report of tolls received at the west end of the Harrisburg bridge; report of the ice-bound condition of the Susquehanna River at Harrisburg, 1870-1902; card listing officers of bridge company; small personal account notebook; and a bound ledger of tolls collected by L. C. Danner at the west end of the Harrisburg bridge from November 27, 1914 to November 1, 1917.


L. C. Danner began service with the Harrisburg Bridge Company in December, 1883, and continued to March, 1902 when the bridge was destroyed by high water. He resumed work as toll keeper in February, 1904, on the new steel bridge and continued until 1917 when he discontinued work because of ill health.
