Education

Welcome to the Carriage House
Many education program activities
are held in the Carriage House

Local educators are very fortunate to have a historical site in Central Pennsylvania that spans the wide time period from Colonial era to the Civil War.  The Historical Society of Dauphin County provides exciting and interactive elementary education programs at the Mansion.  The programs are intended for students from third to fifth grade, and are designed to permit students to return year after year and experience something new and exciting each time they visit.

  • Highlights of the Education Programs
  • The programs are designed to align with the goals and standards of the PA Department of Education standards for history and civics.  Objectives are given for each activity.
  • The program is a must for any day in Harrisburg and is a great add-on to an existing trip.  Visiting the Civil War or State Museum? Then add a visit to the Mansion.
  • Classes learn about history through hands on activities that complement a Harris/Cameron Mansion tour and local history presentation.
  • Activities can be mixed and matched between the curriculums to create the perfect customized experience.
