Rev. W. C. Cattell pastor elect of the church preached morning and evening at 10 am and 6 pm in Hall of House of Representatives for us. Mrs. Rawn and self and children Fanny and John Calvin there morning and evening. Mr. C. alluded in the evening specially to the death of Mr. W. C. A. Lawrence and more especially to that of more recent death of Mrs. Whitehall, to which he alluded very feelingly and very praiseworthy and truly with reference to her.
I attended preaching by the Rev. Dr. DeWitt at the New School Presbyterian Church from 8 to 9 am. To bed 9 ½..
28-2 Clear and beautiful, pleasant. I walked to Depot at 7 ½ am with Col. Warford and Rev. W. C. Cattell who is on his way home to Easton and from whom I received on Friday last a Telegraph announcing the birth of his little son that morning at 10 o’clock.

The Contractors Holman and Wilt for building a new Court House commenced operations today in the way of tearing down fences, cutting trees &c. I walked through day 4 to 6 miles, chiefly between 6 and 8 pm., where I walked with G. W. Harris Esq. round by where Pa. RR Co. building new depot, 2 miles circular, after which I walked 3 to 4 miles circular alone. Mrs. Blessing and Mrs. D.A.S. Eyster at front door with Mrs. Rawn 8 pm. To bed 9 ½.
29-3 Clear, fine, pleasant. Mrs. Mary Lehman here. I wrote letter for her to Mr. Leas Esq. of Mechanicsburg, Cumberland Co. about bringing suit for her in ____ and conversion against Dr. Behne. Received of her in 25cts. She saying it was all she could pay now.

I walked thorough day 4 to 5 pm. Chiefly in evening when I walked 4 miles circular and fell in with John Ornslager and we met Mrs. D. A. S. Eyster and her mother Mrs. Blessing on our return. Home 7 ½ pm to 8 pm. To bed 9 to 10.

George F. Munson and Frederick P Maus at office in business 10 am to 11 am. I attended as usual for latter before an Inquisition of 12 men and 2 justices at Franklin House at 2 pm on a proceeding by Chris. F. Eberly against him to get possession of land bought at sheriff’s sale. W. V. Bishop Esq. for Eberly. We defeated their object on the grounds that they had not served the legal notice in Maus 2 months &c. Maus gave me his note for fifty dollars. Emerson undertaking to see it paid as he claimed to be some how specially interested in the suit and had said to me before trial he had $50 for me if we succeeded or to that effect.
I walked 3 ½ to 4 pm between 6 and 8 pm, falling in with Mr. Connor near "Harrisburg Park" we stopped at Episcopal Mission Church on our return where Mrs. Rawn and our children were listening to and joining with singing by children Rev. Mr. Feltwell had gathered in. I was introduced after the dismissal by Mr. Connor to said Mr. Feltwell. Home 8 and to bed 9 ½ to 10pm.
