15-1 Clear, fine, very warm, very hot sun.
Wife, self, and children at church at Capitol morning 10 am and evening 6 pm. Our pastor Mr. Cattell preaching for us. This is our last day of worshiping at the Capitol, where we have held our services so pleasantly and commodiously for nearly two years past, as we expect to dedicate the church on Sunday next. Mr. C’s subject in the morning was in respect of the temptation of our Saviour by the Devil when led up 40 days into the Wilderness, and in the evening from Haggai 2:9, The glory of this latter house shall be greater than of the former saith the Lord. In the conclusion of this latter discourse he made a very interesting application of the subject to our contemplated removal from the Capitol to the new church.
In the afternoon from 3 to 4 I attended preaching by a blind man named Wilson in the big tent. The discourse was an earnest and interesting one from the words turn ye turn ye for why will ye die for as I live with the Lord I have no pleasure in the death of the wicked. Our evening church was out about 7 pm. I walked round a little between 7 3/4 and 8 ½ and to bed 9 ½ to 10.
