3-1- Clear and Cloudy-Fresh- Pleasant-Spring like- Rafts running [numerously] past our town today. Rev W. C. Cattell our late Pastor new of Eastern reached for us morning and evening and administered communion. Wife, children, and I left there morning and evening. I walked around half an hour or more between 2 and 3 pm for fresh air calling a few minutes at Dr. Gharltrus. Home in evening at 8 ¾ and to bed at 9 ¼ -9 ½.

4-2 Clear-Cloudy. Fresh. Some Wind. Rode on horseback between 8 ½ to 10 am. 6 to 8 miles. Received letter from Hon W.H. Miller Washington City Left April 2nd.

I called after 11 am at house where Rev W. Cattall lately lived and where he and his wife are packing up their goods and shipping them off to Eastern. They have been here several days and will leave tomorrow. Mre. Cattall Mrs. Rawn went to Middletown at noon to Rev M Farri days were they have some things. Returned in Even. Spent evening at home and to bed 9 ½.

5-3 Snow & Sleet in last night. Some mist or rain and Sleety this morning. Raw. Wet and [deplorable] all day. Dr. Moper and Mr. Sober of Sunbury called before dinner and the latter again in the evening at 7pm. with Mr. Heller [attending] [?] and at present a clerk in Capt Clements PLO [main] office that has been also clerking in our Board of Enrollment office. I received letter by hand of Mr. Sober from Rev J. H. Young introductory of Mr. Sober. Spent day chirpily at home being only at Mr. and Mrs. McCormicks and Mr. Etters office a short time at Post Office. Evn. at home and to be 9 ½.

6-4 Cloudy- Clear after 10 am. Rode on horseback between 9 and 10 ½ am 7 or 8 miles. Called at [?] to see Gen. Russell about 184th regiment. Walked between 4 ½ and 6 pm- 3 miles.

Wife at Market for 98 Beef , 34 Veal, 13 Pork 145 1 lb butter .45- 1.90

Sauerkraut 10, twist 10, apples 10, corn mean 10- .40

Tea 38, corn husk mat 25, skim milk and spool of thread 15 -.78 $3.08

Evening at home and to bed 9 ½

April 7-5-Clear- Fine-Pleasant- Rode on horseback between 9 and 11 am for 7 miles and walked between 4 and 6 pm with wife, her friend Mrs. Bealt, and our daughter Fanny. Whitman Jr of Halifax and J.N. Lundis here 11 am for an hour or more about Draft-paid Crackers 30 ½ lb of macaronie 24 .55 4lb sugar 72 1 lb coffee 45 (Mrs. Rawn) $1.17 Spent evening at home and to be 9 ½.

8-6 Clear- Fine- Pleasant. Rode on horseback from 8 ¾ to 10 ¼ am 8 miles. Walked in afternoon daughter Fanny being along part of the time. Our hired woman Nora Barry who has lived with us ever since the 20 June 1860 left his evening for good- is going to be married and is going into house keeping- spent evening at home and to bed 9 ¼ to 9 ½.
