Scope and Content

Includes the booklet, "Harrisburg Centennial Celebration," which lists all the events scheduled along with the history of the town; the booklet, "Harrisburg Centennial Tour," which took place September 8, 1960; a certificate presented to the Historical Society of Dauphin County for its efforts to make the celebration a success; the script used for the presentation of "The Centurama," at the Farm Show Arena, September, 1960; the program of events; a description of 22 Episodes depicting events in the history of Harrisburg; a listing of additional patrons of "The Centurama."

Background

Although Harrisburg was founded by John Harris Jr., laid out in 1785, and incorporated as a borough in 1791, it was not until 1860 that the city received its charter.
