A record book of the Central Clay Club of Dauphin County with the handwritten constitution of the organization and a list of members and officers in 1843 with the minutes of the meetings held in January, February and April, 1844. The purpose of the organization was to work for the election of Henry Clay to the office of the President of the United States.

Background

The Central Clay Club of Dauphin County was formed in 1843 to support the election of Henry Clay to the Presidency and to support the policies advocated by him.
