Scope and Content

Contains a bound volume of handwritten letters and telegrams sent to Major Lane S. Hart concerning the meeting of the Society of the Army of the Potomac and other Army Reunions held in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania, May 11-13, 1874. Includes, also, a printed letter from Governor A. G. Curtin accepting the nomination by the Liberal Republican State Committee to serve as a candidate at large to the Constitutional Convention. A full account of the proceedings of the meetings can be found in the "Harrisburg Daily Telegraph," May 11-14, 1874.

Collection includes a publication printed by Lane S. Hart, Printer and Binder, 1879. The publication is "Remarks of Hon. Daniel Ermentrout," Senator from Berks County, 1879.

Background

Lane S. Hart served as Secretary of the Committee charged with the arrangements for the meeting of the Society of the Army of the Potomac and other Army Reunions. The letters are in response to an invitation sent by Major Hart to attend the meeting and the banquet given in honor of the Society. The letters were arranged in the volume by William Kelker, Librarian, April 24, 1901.
