The Children's Diagnostic Center at Harrisburg Hospital provided free services to handicapped children from 1960 to 1979 when it was forced to close its doors due to severe financial problems. The Center was unique because it offered a comprehensive variety of services in one place, with a team approach to diagnosis and recommendations. Neurological problems were the early focus, but in later years the Center received many referrals involving learning disabilities. The Center officially closed its offices on December 19, 1979.
