The collection contains four handwritten account books of George Youse covering the time period from 1790 to 1837, and two smaller notebooks of business transactions concerning a partnership with Michael Bitser from 1809 to 1814.
Background
George Youse, from the entries in his account books, appears to have been a dealer in tinware and a tinsmith. In the years from 1809 to 1814 he was in a partnership with Michael Bitser in the operation of a still.
