Scope and Content

The collection contains the program for the Centennial Dinner celebrating the founding of Millersburg, 1850-1950, including a short history of the borough and a description of the town in 1850 (3 copies).

The collection also contains a letter from Robert E. Woodside to the Historical Society of Dauphin County and a typewritten copy of his speech made at the dedication of the Millersburg Ferry Historical Marker at the corner of Market and North Streets, Millersburg, 1972.

Background

Robert E. Woodside was in 1950 the Judge of the Court of Common Pleas of Dauphin County and served as Toastmaster at the Centennial Dinner in Millersburg. He was an attorney at law with the firm Shearer, Mette, Hoerner & Woodside located in the State Street Building at 500 North Third Street, Harrisburg, Pennsylvania.
