Scope and Content

The collection contains the papers of Helen Krall including her diploma from Harrisburg High School; teaching certificates; correspondence; invoices, many of which are directed to the estate of Marguerite Krall Fletcher; family mementos, such as school reports, the program for the 30th commencement and Commencement Argus for 1910; annual reports of the Harrisburg Public Schools for 1904 and 1907; school directories, 1938-1975; the yearbook, "Fama," 1903 and 1905; newspaper clippings; miscellaneous items such as a book in German belonging to H. Krall, 1903, and an issue of "The Cricket" published by the students of the Seiler School, 1913; and family photographs.

Background

Helen Krall, b. 1884, d. 1982, received her education in the public schools of Harrisburg, graduating from the Harrisburg High School in 1903. She was granted her Teachers Professional Certificate in 1907 and was principal of the Harris Park-Boas Elementary School, 1926-29, and the Cameron School in 1933. She was Supervisor of Elementary Education in 1940, retiring from the profession in 1947. She died August 29, 1982 at the age of 98 years.
