Background

The Harrisburg Civil War Round Table was founded in 1959, on the eve of the Civil War centennial. Its purpose was to provide a means through which persons having a common interest in the events of the American Civil War could satisfy that interest and broaden their knowledge with discussions, lectures, field visits, and the exchange of books, papers and other data and to give support to the preservation and protection of the battlefields, landmarks, relics and collections of the period.
