Background

Harvey E. Knupp, born January 23, 1871, received his early education in public schools in Oberlin and graduated from Steelton High School in 1888. He studied oratory at the Neff College of Oratory in Philadelphia and Temple College. In 1895 he entered Dickinson Law School in Carlisle and graduated from there in 1898. He was admitted to the bar in Cumberland County, the supreme court of Pennsylvania, and the Dauphin County bar. He opened his office for the practice of law in Harrisburg in 1900 and later was joined by his son Robert E. Knupp, also a graduate of Dickinson Law School.
