Scope and Content

A collection of 22 postcards in color with scenes of Harrisburg in the early 1900's and nearby locations as well as scenes from Atlantic City, New Jersey. The scenes of Harrisburg include the Wm. Penn Highway near Dauphin, scenes along the Susquehanna River, the State Capital buildings, the Cumberland Valley Railroad and the Reading Railroad Bridges at Harrisburg. The other cards include scenes from Gettysburg, the Horse Shoe curve along Pennsylvania Railroad, the Buffalo-Pittsburgh Highway, and scenes from Atlantic City.

Background

The cards were collected by the donor's mother who visited Harrisburg as a child. Her father's family name was Heikes.
