4-2 Rain and snow and sleet on the ground. Dr. Geo A. Berghaus is my office has been West and South. Rec’d letter from R.J. Brins Esqr. "Hagerstown Jan 1/1836" with fee $5 enclosed popos 10 cts and wrote in reply and sent copy

4-2 Cont’d. Paid mother Clendenin per Mary S. Clendenin $15 amount of Frances and my boarding. Handed Frances for her own use $1. Paid Antes and Berryhill. Stove bill by Frances for herself. Child and black girl and 2 pair stockings for myself in full $20.07 (v. Bill and Receipt on file) and at same time in the way of settlement rec’d of Henry Antes Fee$20. for professional rendered for him in suits No.349 and 350. 1824 in Dauphin Com. Pleas. Pd. Dr. Wm. Rutherford on account for medical services to my family $10. (v. my receipt book) I spent the Evening at home.

5-3 Cloudy. Foggy. Wet, muddy, very dull. I called at Mrs. Musgraves to see about buying beef and pork in market for her which she wished me to do. Paid my postage bill in full for the quarter ending Dec.31/35. $5. v.Bill and receipt. I was engaged this afternoon in making admin. for David Forney. Paid for [wine] at Maron’s Hall 6 1/4. Had invitation to party at [Lechis] did not go. Evening too [cold] Stayed at home.

M. Kunkle for mending office door knob. Present Tobias Stendruk, vsd. I was at meeting after tea with Frances.

7-5 Cloudy, cold, hard frozen. Snow and Sleet in evening. John H. Brinton Esqr. of West Chester at my office today. I introduced him to Joseph my brother-in-law and through him to Peacock’s family. Paid for 1 lb. of charcoal for my office 25 cts. Went with Ms. Clendenin to Shunks at 7P.M. Then to my office and back for her at 8 ½ P.M.

8-6 Rain, moderate, Slush, hail. I was engaged in taking deposition this morning before Esqr. Davies from 9A.M. to 11A.M. Was in the convention in court House some time. At 7 ½ P.M. a large group of 150 or 200 Gentlemen sat down to a supper at "Misons Hotel" in Com. of the bu. at New Orleans in 1815. Peter Wager of Phila presided Mr. M. Reed Esqr made a speech. I (and each of us) paid $1 for supper. I paid Esqr Davies $1.50 for talking deposition for Philip Newly in orphans court.
