The first three ingredients are to be boiled in a gallon of water to Exhact [ ] them to be drained and liquid [ ] down to a quart [ ] then to the [ ] with white sugar buy a pound and to have ½ pinch whiskey [ ] and a half [ ] glass full to be taken 3 times a day for cough. Mr. Lees told me today of a recipe some soldier gave him as a [ ] remedy for cough consumption.
