Scope and Content

Contains a history of the church written in 1877 and memories of the church in the late 1800's by Lizzie Rutherford; programs for various special services and anniversary celebrations, 1890-1982; the marriage records of Rev. John Roan from 1754-1774; brochures, a guide to the graveyard listing the names of the early settlers buried there and newspaper clippings concerning the restoration done in the 1930's; papers of various historical events with a newspaper column written by Paul Beers in 1980 about religious freedoms; a research paper,"The First Jury of Dauphin County," dedicated to the "Paxton Boys" and church bulletins, 1963, 1981; original documents include correspondence, 1796, 1798, 1890; a handwritten undated notice to the Presbytery of Carlisle; a notice from the Board of Missions in Philadelphia asking for subscriptions for the support of missions, 1829; and a handwritten account of the money expended in the repairs to the Meeting House, 1809; and church directories for 1958 and 1986. Also includes a sketch of the church and graveyard done by George Plowman, undated.
