Collection contains the financial statement of the Federation, 1921; the program of the Second Annual Meeting, January 9, 1922; the first Annual Report, 1922; an advertising brochure for a campaign to raise funds for its member agencies, "He's Me Brudder;" and the November, 1922 issue of "The Welfare Bulletin," a newsletter published by the Welfare Federation.
Background
The Harrisburg Welfare Federation was established in 1921; the membership consisted of twenty-nine welfare agencies, seven civic bodies, four public boards, eleven ex-officio members, and twelve member at large. The aim of the organization was to generate better cooperation among the welfare agencies to make a better community. Three cooperative movements were inaugurated in the first year of operation: The Community Fund, the Social Service Exchange, and the Central Publicity Program.
