Scope and Content

Collection contains eleven school notebooks with class assignments and homework including an arithmetic tablet, spelling and grammar exercise booklets, a lesson book and a composition book, 1892-1893. Some of the booklets contain colorful illustrations on the covers, and one booklet a "Bunker Hill Tablet" has an illustration of Yankee Doodle with arithmetic and music exercises within. Included with the collection, also, are letters, calling cards, an advertising booklet for Dr. Warner's Coraline Corsets and other miscellaneous items from the turn-of-the-century.


Lulu Moore attended the Grammar School in Steelton, Pennsylvania. She was 14 years old when she worked on the school assignments included in the collection. Little else is known about Lulu Moore.
