Scope and Content

The collection contains photographs and newspaper clippings concerning a log house in Middle Paxton Township west of the Peter Allen House, south of Peters Mountain, which was built about 1750 to 1760.

The photographs show the house as it was when purchased, some of the details of the construction, and several pictures after the restoration.

One newspaper clipping from the Evening News, April 15, 1937 describes the house and the Indian and Colonial relics found there. The clipping from the Sunday Patriot-News, October 11, 1953, shows the interior rooms of the house after restoration.

One of the photographs of the exterior of the log house was transferred to the Photo Archives, 06056-I.
