Scope and Content

The collection contains a certified copy with envelope of the payrolls of the Dauphin County Militia who served in the Whiskey Insurrection in 1794 from the files on record in the Auditor General's Department. The files were found and copied by Luther R. Kelker in 1902. The payrolls are from the Light Infantry of Dauphin County Militia attached to the First Battalion in the First Regiment under the command of Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Foster. They list the names of the officers, non-commissioned officers and privates of the company. The copy was certified by N. E. Hause, Chief Clerk of the Auditor General, E. B. Hardenbergh, February 13, 1902.
