Scope and Content

The collection contains notes on the history of the Harrisburg Post office and copies from various publications on the post office and postmasters; a copy of a petition for daily mail from Philadelphia to Harrisburg by the contractors, 1826; papers on the selection of a new site for the Post Office in 1873; correspondence, 1913, concerning the use of a sticker of the Pennsylvania Woman Suffrage Association; a program for the Dedication Ceremonies for the postal facility at 811 Market Street in 1962; registry return receipts, 1883; and air mail envelopes, 1968, commemorating the 50th anniversary of air mail.
