Evg with Governor Shunk & his daughter Nancy-called at Governors room at 6 ¼ PM Went with him to Peacocks for Nancy and then to Church. My wife not out today because not very well. home at 8 ¼ & to bed 9 ¼ PM.

"Midn " and kept Copy rode on horseback from 12 ¼ to 2 PM. 9 mis Adjt Ct Cem Plus Jury Trials Cond this Morng -was at the Executive Chamber at 5 PM with Jacob Rahn son of Geo Rahn. Recd of Jno Haney on a/c of Retg Fee $2.00 in case of Harry v McCabe No 14 Apr 7’45-he gave me $1.00 to pay for inst-which I did. Wm Byrd & Thos R. Kimble Esqs at office from 7 ¼ to 8 ¼ PM. Spent Evg in Parlor & office & to bed 9 ¾ PM.

Feb 4-3 Contd for Trimbles heirs $5 on a/c of Rent & Water rent. Spent day chiefly in Court and Evg in Parlor & office & to bed 8 ¼ PM.

5-4 Snow 8 or 9 inches Deep. Blowing & blusterly all day & snowing at times. Sleighs running briskly-very cold- pd for 3 lbs Butter 56 ¼ cts (??) for 5 lbs Veal 20 cts. for ¼ lb tea 25 cts 4 lbs brown sugar 20 cts (v. 29 wt) 4 lbs Coffee 32 cts (v. 22 wt) at Miles’s, Amt $1.61 1/4. Recd of Mrs Sarah Knox $5.00 rent for my New House. Settled accts with Wm Boyd Esq to this time & pd him by CK to his order on the Harrisburg Savs Instn $63.81. Bal of rents for his Hanover farm in my hands for damages ind of Fox. Spent Evg partly at Buehlers Hotel after tea with Msr Jno R Ray of Phila an applicant for House Inspector who took tea with us home from Buehler at 8 ¼ PM & to bed 10 PM.

6-5 Clear & very cold, windy & blustory Snow blowing considerably. Sleighs running briskly was engaged in afternoon for Mitchell terre tenant in trial before a Jury of Connors Fertig etc 99 Aug 7, 1842. Wrote note to Geo W Enrich by long. Bill for oats-& pd him for 7 Bus Oats 28 cts by Boy, was engaged in Court at 2 ¼ PM to 3 ¼ PM for Wm Byrd Thos R Trimble adms of Jas Trimble ded in resisting application by v. Franklin Reigart for their discharge. (added above: Byrd & Reigart complaint) Antes Snyder took tea with us. Went to Buchlers Hotel at 9 PM with Jno R. Ray. I went to Gov Shunks room where I remained till 10 ¼ PM. home & to bed 10 ¼ PM.

7-6 Clear & Fine. Moderated considerably was in court chiefly all day till trial list~through with before 1 PM & adjd for this week-till tuesday next. Spent afternoon chiefly in office. Addressed letter to Gov Shunk in favor of Jno R. Ray for House Inspectr & deld to Mr Ray at my office-went to Buchlers Hoterl to Gov Shunks room at 8 where I remained till 9 PM home 9 and to bed 10 PM.

Feb 8-7 Contd Recd of Geo Utz for Trimbles heirs for rent $1.00. I rode on horseback from 10 AM to 12 ¼ PM 9 or 10 miles Snow very much blown into heaps in woods & off fields. Gov Shunk took tea with us-spent Evg in parlor till 10 PM & then left and to bed 10 ¼ PM.
