8 1 Rain more or less all day-mild-a certain swett or sweet-an aged careless looking man as there a dirty tobacco shewer called at 11 AM accompanied by K. O. Hiester Esq to see our little straighten back hip etc. It seems he had been rooming on Mrs Douglass (who

sent a cold boy to inform Mrs. Rawn of his being here on Mrs Douglass & Mr O. Connor, Mr & Mrs Fein G. S. Parkers child S. O. Theistens child & perhaps others. He appears to be a Bone Setter or righter & it seems as almost every complaint is attended to by something out of joint-or partially so. He undermined most decidedly the puttings of Dr. Chase’s Bell of fixtures on our child & recommended throwing it in the fire-also recommended hold the child up by the arms that is stretching her arms up by taking hold of her at the hands which Dr Chase would by no means allow-

also rubbing her back with some lineament or other stuff he has at G.S. Parkers & poulticing the lump on her thigh till it should suppurate which last Dr Roberts and others expressly condemn. He said our childs hip was "slightly dislocated" but not a "complete dislocation" that we might have it fixed now or not just as we pleased but that he should be along here again after a while when we could see what condition her leg would be in & attend to it if need be then etc of the whole I formed a slim opinion of his science or Judgt =spent day & Evg at home. Chas was in (?) & wife in Evg -to bed at 8 ½ PM.
