Harrisburg's First Dedicated Post Office

This photo, taken June 30, 1880, shows Harrisburg's first dedicated post office building half-constructed on the corner of Third and Walnut Streets. Federal court for the Middle District of Pennsylvania and other federal offices shared this building in the 1900s until it was demolished in the 1960s and the present structure was built. This view is one of a series of nine photos taken over a two-year period during the construction, each showing a different stage of completion. Photo ID: Z03591.
