Pat Nixon adjusts her husband Richard's tie at breakfast in the Penn Harris Hotel on October 9, 1952. Nixon traveled by train on the "Dick Nixon Special" while campaigning during the 1952 presidential election as Dwight Eisenhower's running mate. A rally was held on the steps of the State Capitol. Eisenhower came to Harrisburg later that month. He carried Pennsylvania (including Dauphin County), securing the state's 32 electoral votes by winning 52% of the popular vote. Photo ID: APN521009-1-7.
