The Fallen Monarch

This tree in Paxton Church Grove, Paxtang, PA, was blown down by a storm on May 10, 1918. "The Fallen Monarch" was one of the largest and oldest White Oak trees in the area, measuring about 23 feet in circumference and estimated at the time to perhaps be over 500 years old. Though they have since been separated, the frame that once held this photo was made from the wood of the fallen tree. Photo ID: G03208.
