Mulberry Street Bridge Re-Construction

The original Mulberry Street Bridge was constructed in 1891 to connect the Allison Hill neighborhood with downtown Harrisburg. The iron bridge with wood decking experienced several fires and was demolished in 1907. In this 1909 photograph, giant pieces of rebar can be seen during the bridge's concrete re-construction. This is the version which still stands today, albeit having had minor improvements on several occasions during the last 100 years. Photo ID: MG698-116.
